Friends in High Places

"Friends in High Places"

36" x 48" Original acrylic - SOLD

"People's Choice" Runner Up at the 2019 Cowichan Valley Fine Arts Show.

These black & white friends live just down the road from me in the Cowichan Valley. The Western Bluebirds, seen in the painting, are native to the Pacific Northwest, but have been nearing extinction on Vancouver Island. Some of their "friends in high places" from the Garry Oak Ecosystem Recovery Team are working hard to ensure their survival by providing numerous nesting boxes in Garry Oak habitat, and by moving (with permits) nesting pairs from Washington State to the Cowichan Valley.
